[McClelland:] Your opponent has an ominous local connection of being the brother of a US Congressman and uncle to a Carrollton City Councilman. Do you think this is going to hurt or hinder your campaign?[Manuel:] I have found this to be more advantage than disadvantage. To paraphrase what a number of Republicans have said to me, "The Marchants think that they own Carrollton. I wouldn't vote for a Marchant for dog catcher." People are sick of these political machine families. They prefer me because I am not a politician. I am just a concerned citizen and business systems analyst.
The Marchants play dirty politics. That is something that I simply will not do. I do not operate that way.

I can't wait to see Amy Manuel elected to this position. I definitely don't want to see another Marchant in a position of power in Carrollton. My grandma lives in Carrollton and I was born there, so I feel like I have a stake in what's going on over there. I want good representation for my family.
